Don't Rush the Plan of God

8/15/2018

I am not sure why we think we know what's best for our lives. Some of you may remember the TV series back in the 1950's “Father Knows Best” or even watched the re-runs when you were younger, where Mr. Anderson, is the “voice of reason” and offered fatherly advice whenever one of his children, Betty, Bud & Kathy or “Kitten”, had a problem… that is just like us with God, Our Heavenly Father:

  • He is available to us as a listener: We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.” John 9:31
  • If you are fearful or worrying:Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
  •  If you want something ask: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

When you look at God, Our Heavenly Father, as knowing what is best for each of us, let's examine His qualifications. I am going to assume most of you have had to create a resume before, when applying for a job, right? If not, here are some of the categories you find on a resume: education, experiences, employment, qualifications, certifications, areas of experience, accomplishments, additional skills, and affiliations. • I Am the light of the world.

  • I Am the Lord, who made all things. I alone stretched out the heavens.

  • I Am the bread that gives life.

So, you have to admit He has a well-rounded resume, and He has a great skill set.

God is the Originator and Creator of the universe. Revelation 11:13 is a reminder that, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” You know God had preliminary thoughts, ideas, plans, and blue prints of what the universe, earth, and the galaxies were to look like and how they would function. It says in Psalm 90:2, “Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”

God has a plan for everything that is in the universe. He has a plan for you and me too! He is very detailed and precise. He put more than a little thought into how everything was going to work together. His plans are bigger than you and I. Each of us are an important, unique puzzle piece in God's grand eternal plan. I am encouraged by the following scriptures and know that He is in control.

  • "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

  • For you created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb.” Psalm 139:13

  • For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” Ephesians 1:4

Now that you know you are in capable hands, next, you need to begin to trust God. You need to give your life over to Him and give Him total control. I have included a few of my favorite scriptures below to encourage you, and build your faith and trust in God.

  • Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
    Proverbs 3:5-6

  • Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2

  • Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life.” Psalm 143:8

  • In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 56:4

  • Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.” Proverbs 16:20

The last point is to learn to wait on the Lord for His plan to evolve in your life as you walk out that plan. After the surrender of my life to God, learning to wait on Him has been the second most difficult thing I have had to do. Wait, knowing God is in control, that He is a good, good Father Who only wanted the best for you, and he is going before you.

  • I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.”    Psalm 40:1-3 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.)

  • Therefore, return to your God, Observe kindness and justice, and wait for your God continually.” Hosea 12:6

  • Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:5

  • Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.” Psalm 33:20

  • For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:3

REMEMBER...Don't Rush the Plan of God. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
